Tbilisi cyclists’ favourite loop is presented here in a version starting and finishing at Rustaveli Metro.
From Rustaveli, ride towards Liberty Square, where the climbing begins with a short cobbled section on Leonidze Street. The route then continues via Amaghleba Street, following mostly gentle gradients towards the Mtatsminda Park junction, before passing through Shindisi and Tabakhmela and eventually reaching the village of Kojori. The ascent is long but generally steady and manageable. Beyond Kojori, the road circles around the mountain, with a mixture of gentle downhill, flat terrain and one final rise before the descent towards Tskneti. From there, the route returns to central Tbilisi through Bagebi and Vake.
The main caution is the descent to Tskneti: some sections are steep, speeds can become high, and drivers may overtake unpredictably or cross into your lane. Control your speed and remain particularly alert. Apart from this, the route offers outstanding mountain views, especially along the high plateau, above Tskneti and near the Tskneti landslide. In Kojori, you can also make a short detour to visit Kojori Fortress and Beria’s former dacha.
